Multinational Fora

Did You Know?

logo

One of the main battlegrounds for holding ECAs accountable to global best practices and standards is the common ground of multinational fora. Important fora where civil society organizations try to exert pressure to improve ECA-backed projects include the European Union (i.e. the European Commission, the Council and the European Parliament) and the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD). One worrisome development in 2005 is the effort of ECG members to include large hydro dams in a category of renewable energy projects eligible for beneficial financing terms. ECA Watch has taken a firm stance in opposition to this back door to big hydro.
