New study urges EU to include ECA subsidies in efforts to enforce human rights compliance (PDF)

(EC, Brussels, 25 October 2010) The European Commission has published a report on the legal framework for human rights and the environment applicable to EU companies operating outside the Union. Written by a University of Edinburgh team, the report is an important input for further EU implementation of the UN business and human rights framework, including forms of State regulation, for example public procurement and export credit guarantees, that make the conveyance of State investments, contracts and benefits contingent in some way on a corporation’s human rights and environmental performance outside the European Union.
